PTU changelog 1.05 Obviously a ton of things have changed, given how much time we've had to work on this. You'll find the biggest changes in the core book and the completely redone Game of Throhs supplement. Are you really gonna read this file instead of taking a look for yourself? Well, your call. Maybe just read over the general changes and then skip over to the PDF once you reach the section about Class changes. Then come back and read about the supplements. We probably forgot to write a lot of things down in here anyway. ---------------------------------------------- Core Book System Mechanics: - Attributes have been removed. Skill Rolls may still be boosted by equipment, Features and Abilities, etc. - Super-effective damage is now 1.5x, and doubly super-effective damage is 2x. Resistances remain the same. - Combat Stages are now +20% / -10% - More Combat Maneuvers have been added and existing ones altered. - This includes Attack of Opportunity, and a lot of effects work around this now. - Food items now must be consumed in advance and give a buff that can be used during batle. - Weapons now have various grades of quality, and higher quality weapons can grant Moves - Scrap is now a mechanic available without the Sustainable Recipes Feature - a Social keyword has been applied to Moves like Taunt, Attract, etc which is used by some Features - the Intelligence Capability has been removed - the Boss Template has been redone to be easier to use. - Daily/X frequency no longer exists. All Daily frequencies have a set number of uses instead of scaling by level. - Features with Stat Tags give only one Stat Tag now. See explanation in Trainer Creation section of changelog - Effects such as Features and Abilities that extend the Critical Hit or Effect Ranges of a Move cannot extend them by more than a total of +6 from their natural ranges. - Trainers can Drain 2 AP as an Extended Action to heal themselves of Injuries. A copy remains in the core PDF as well. - form-fillable PDF character sheets are included - a quick summary page for character creation has been added Trainer Creation: - All Trainers begin play with one Training Feature of their choice - Backgrounds now uniformly lower 3 Skills to Pathetic, raise 1 Skill to Adept, and raise 1 other Skill to Novice - The minimum Level to use Edges to raise Skills to Adept remains Level 2 - Trainers now choose 4 Edges and 4 Features at Level 1 - Trainers now get additional bonuses at levels 5, 10, 20, 30, and 40, which includes an option for taking the "other half" of Stat Tags that were cut. This allows Trainers that mix between combat and non-combat classes to perform better. General Edges and Features - Of particular note, the general Orders are much improved and give two Orders in a package now, including a new type of Order called a Stratagem which has a more persistent effect once used - A couple Features now interact with the Boss Template Class Changes - Seriously, more has changed than has remained the same, so you might as well read through it all. - Classes have been reorganized into several categories: Introductory Classes that most new players can grasp easily, Battling Style Classes that hone in on a particular strategy in battle, Specialist Team Classes that focus on Pokémon with a certain trait, Professional Classes which are based on skills that aren't necessarily tied to the typical Pokémon League challenge, Fighting Classes which are non-supernatural Classes meant for Trainer Combat, and Supernatural Classes which are the same category as before. - The Classes that have either remained entirely the same or underwent only minor changes are: - Coordinator - Enduring Soul - Juggler - Chronicler (Photographer, but renamed; otherwise is the same) - Style Expert - The following Classes have been cut: - Hatcher: some of its functionality lives on in Researcher, and some has simply been made part of Breeding mechanics - Medic: some of its functionality lives on in Researcher - Scientist: redone as Researcher branches - Soldier: its Trained Stat mechanic has been moved to Athlete - Underdog: Poké Edges are now available to boost Underdog Pokémon in similar ways to Underdog Features - Disciple: combined into Aura Guardian - Medium: split up into Hex Maniac and Sage - The following entirely new Classes have been added: - Tumbler: a non-supernatural fighter based on acrobatics - Duelist: an active Pokémon support class built around the Focused Training Feature and gaining momentum in battle - Provocateur: inherited the social move side of Rogue and makes use of the new Manipulate Maneuver - Trickster: a Pokémon support class that specializes in Status-Class Moves - Other Classes saw the following changes (note - each class's entry isn't particularly comprehensive or detailed, just there to give you an idea of what changed): - Ace Trainer: EXP bonus replaced with a new Order that boosts Training Feature effects, Signature Technique options revamped - Athlete: Changed into a full combat class with Trained Stats; basically a Normal-Type Martial Artist - Capture Specialist: Moved False Strike into Capture Techniques, minor changes - Chef: rebuilt to have more customization for your food items, tutors Pokémon Gluttony - Commander: new name for the Mastermind.
